Schools and education

Kinderen enthousiast maken voor de natuurlijke, geografische en historische aspecten van de Biesbosch. Dat is een van de doelen van het Biesbosch MuseumEiland.

Daarom organiseren wij voor groepen kinderen educatieve programma’s. In totaal duurt een bezoek twee uur. Na een introfilm van 20 minuten volgt een leuke en leerzame speurtocht door het Biesbosch Museum. De Biesbosch beleving is evenals de speurtocht bij het bezoek inbegrepen.

Ben jij docent in het basis of voortgezet onderwijs en wil je ons bezoeken met jouw klas? Leuk, dat kan! Je kunt hieronder je groep aanmelden voor een bestaand programma.

You can extend the program for children with an 85-minute boat tour and/or an exciting walk on the Pannekoek, the outdoor museum of Biesbosch MuseumEiland. On an assignment sheet, children then indicate what flora and fauna they see. The outdoor museum includes a willow garden and the trapping pipe of a duck decoy.

All outdoor programs listed below are accompanied by school guides from Staatsbosbeheer. Schools are responsible for supervising their own groups completing the program.

School programs

Animal Friend's Path Pannekoek (group 1, 2, 3)

With this program, children receive a backpack filled with fun, educational assignments. They perform these in outdoor museum the Pannekoek. In the assignments, animals ask questions about the nature of the Biesbosch. 'I can look underwater very well,' says the beaver, for example. 'There's all kinds of things to see. What do you see? In this way, children learn about all kinds of nature themes in a playful way. Tip: this program can also be done with individual groups, for example for a children's party.

Period	Year-round, Monday through Friday.
Group	maximum of 30 students (max. 6 students per backpack).
Guidance	guides, with parents and teachers in support.

Beaver Trail on the Pancake (groups 3, 4, 5)

This program revolves around the beaver. It begins with a scavenger hunt through the Biesbosch MuseumEiland's permanent exhibition. There, children learn all about the Biesbosch and can touch a beaver's fur, among other things. Then the group goes outside, onto the Beverpad. Here, in outdoor museum the Pannekoek, they carry out all kinds of tasks related to the beaver.

Period	Available all year from Monday to Friday.
Group	maximaal 30 personen.
Guidance	1 begeleider per 5 leerlingen
Cost	€ 5,50 met museumbezoek.

Grienduilen (group 5, 6)

This program revolves around Aaike, whose diary we found in the Biesbosch. The book is at least 60 years old! In it, Aaike describes his Biesbosch experiences. As a 12-year-old boy, he had to accompany his father to a "griend" (a damp field where willow was grown). There they cut willow twigs together; dirty and hard work. What else did he have to do? And how did he feel? Using the diary, we follow in Aaike's footsteps.

Period	Available all year from Monday to Friday.

Guidance	1 begeleider per 10 leerlingen
Cost	€ 5,50 per deelnemer.

Biesbosch Museum cruise (all ages).

Want to introduce children to the past and present of the Biesbosch? Visit the museum - including a treasure hunt - and go for an hour on a whisper boat. This will give you a good impression of the area. There is no guide in this program; instead the skipper gives explanations. Among other things, you sail through the ditch of Beneden Petrus, one of the most beautiful creeks in the Biesbosch.

Period	year-round, Tuesday through Friday in the morning.
Group	maximaal 45 personen.
Guidance	minimum of 1 supervisor for every 10 students.
Cost	€ 8,50 per deelnemer.

Scavenger hunt through Biesbosch Museum Werkendam

Scavenger hunt through the museum (grades 5-8)

This program begins with a 20-minute video (especially for children). This gives them a fun introduction to their visit to the Biesbosch Museum Island. Then the children undertake a scavenger hunt through the permanent exhibition.

Period	gehele jaar van maandag t/m vrijdag.
Group	maximum of 35 people.
Guidance	Museummedewerker met begeleider ouder/leerkrachten per 10 leerlingen.
Cost	€ 4,25 per deelnemer (museum+speurtocht)

UV speurtocht door het museum (6 tot 11 jaar)

Speuren naar het onzichtbare in het museum. Met een UV lamp zoek je in het museum naar aanwijzingen die alleen met dit licht zichtbaar zijn. Zo leren kinderen op een spannende manier over de Biesbosch. Download hier de speurtocht.
